3D Paintings Exhibition 2012

Exhibition of 3D-painting in 2012 in China
3D display of paintings is now in the Peace International Exhibition and Conference Centre of the Chinese city of Hangzhou. The exhibition is notable for the fact that changing the standard notion of visiting art galleries and museums. Usually people just view the exhibits, which in any case can not be touched with a serious expression, while at a respectful distance from them. Here is the opposite: to touch the paintings are not just possible but even necessary. About the seriousness should also remember, a smile on your face will be all the time. The event kicked off on July 1 and will run until August 6. So you still have time to touch the dinosaur, to visit in the jaws of a shark and ride a unicorn.

The Mysterious Pillar Island, Scotland

Staffa, a name for Pillar Island, is an island of the Inner Hebrides in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. The Vikings gave it this name as its columnar basalt reminded them of their houses, which were built from vertically placed tree-logs. The island is entirely of volcanic origin. It lies about 10 kilometers (6.2 MI) west of the Isle of Mull. The area is 33 hectares (0.13 sq MI).

Many famous personalities visited the island after it was discovered by Sir Joseph Banks in the 18 th century. He was fascinated by the natural beauty of the basalt columns and its main sea cavern, which Banks re-named 'Fingal's Cave'.

Among the prominent people who visited the island were Queen Victoria and Felix Mendelssohn, who later brought further fame to the island by writing  the island very beautiful and gave a name to its main sea cavern during the 18th and 19th centuries. The island came to prominence in the late 18th century after a visit by Hebrides Overture opus 26.

The "pillars" are columnar joints. These develop due to slow cooling of basalt. The fractures are produced as it accommodates contraction as it cools due to the internal crystal-structure of basalt. Although this all happened underground, it got exposed as everything around it eroded away.

Volvo Develops The No Death Car

Car giant Volvo is developing 'no death' cars that drive themselves and are impossible to crash – ready for launch in showrooms within eight years.

The computerised vehicles will be fitted with high-tech sensors and will 'refuse to be steered' into other objects.
Volvo says they will be on sale to customers by 2020, but that some of the life-saving technology will be incorporated into its vehicles even earlier – from 2014 – it says.

The car will be fitted with dozens of sensors allowing it to monitor both pedestrians and other traffic, and take action to avoid collisions. Volvo claims by 2020 it can eradicate accidents and deaths in its vehicles.

Sensors will also work at high speeds, ensuring the car is a safe distance from surrounding vehicles.
